The Gut Factor: Who is Less Averse?
After watching Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech last night, the choice between the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates comes down to your gut and aversion.
Or rather, who is less averse.
Do you like open sores or do you prefer making a cut to get to the disease?
Are you more like an ER doc putting out fires or are you more temperate like an oncologist who treats the decay from within?
Donald Trump is the open sore and Kamala oozes when you scratch beneath the surface.
It’s like looking at the menu and not finding anything you want to eat.
So, it all comes down to the gut factor. Which one is more averse?
Watching Kamala’s speech tonight, I was buoyed by something I hadn’t heard in a while.
Attacks based on issues, not name calling.
Speech was coherent.
Speech didn’t go over time.
The speech was, at times, witty.
Even though I know nobody is going to remember the promises she made tonight, it still felt good.
If you didn’t know anything about her, she made a good impression. She was kinder on the eyes and ears than Trump.
But to anyone with any sensibility, it will all come down to aversion.
Who can you stand to look at longer without starting to feel nausea?
Don’t worry, your vote for president won’t matter so much in Washington. (Sneak peak- Washington will go for the Democratic candidate.)
The west will vote mostly for the Democrat, the east for the Republican.
In the end, despite the blanket of red covering the state almost to the shore, the population along the coastline will outnumber the rest of the state and pollsters will call Washington blue as soon as the polls close. The Democrat hobnobs will have their party bags packed before the election.
Whoever wins the battleground states, I’ll try to keep the acidity below my throat.
